SGOV Dividend Dates 2026: Every Ex-Date and Pay Date

$SGOV follows one of the most predictable calendars in the ETF world. The ex-dividend date and record date land on the first business day of the month, and the cash usually hits your account three to five business days later. Here is every 2026 payment so far plus the projected dates for the rest of the year.

Projected dates are estimates based on SGOV's first-business-day pattern and can change. iShares does not announce amounts in advance. SGOV has no January ex-date because it pays twice in December.

📌 To get the November payment, you need to own $SGOV before the market opens on the ex-date. If the expected November 2 ex-date holds, that means buying no later than the close on Friday, October 30, 2026. You can sell on or after the ex-date and still receive that month's dividend.

How Much Does SGOV Pay Per Month?

This is the question most people searching for $SGOV really want answered. The table below uses two numbers: the latest monthly payout of $0.30055 and the trailing 12-month total of $3.67 per share, both at the October 2, 2026 price of $100.44.

Illustrative math before taxes. Future payouts will change with Treasury bill rates. Want to model reinvesting or a different amount? Try the free calculator at DividendProjection.com.

Flip it around and the math gets sobering: at the latest payout, earning $1,000 a month from $SGOV takes about 3,327 shares, or roughly $334,000. That is the trade-off with T-bill income. You get close to zero price risk, but you need a lot of capital to produce meaningful monthly cash. Compare that with higher-yield monthly payers in our full list of monthly dividend ETFs, and keep in mind that higher yield almost always means more risk.

2024 and 20252026

Two things jump out. First, the payout stepped down through 2025 as short-term rates eased, sliding from the $0.36 range to the low $0.30s. Second, 2026 has been remarkably stable. After the March low of $0.2724, payouts climbed back to $0.3071 in September and $0.30055 in October. For an income investor, a flat line is exactly what you want from a cash-like fund.

SGOV Dividends by Year

Yearly totals tell the interest rate story better than any chart. $SGOV launched in May 2020, when T-bill yields were close to zero, and its payouts were tiny for almost two years.

3 Patterns in SGOV's Payout Calendar

Why SGOV's Dividend Moves With Interest Rates

$SGOV holds U.S. Treasury bills that mature in three months or less. Because those bills roll over constantly, the fund's income resets to current short-term rates within weeks. When T-bill yields rise, $SGOV's monthly payout rises soon after. When they fall, it falls just as fast.

That makes $SGOV one of the purest ways to collect the current short-term interest rate in a brokerage account. It does not try to beat T-bills with options, leverage or credit risk. That is also why its yield sits far below the covered call funds you will see on our highest yield monthly ETFs list. Those funds take on market risk to pay more. $SGOV pays the risk-free rate, minus a 0.09% expense ratio.

Does SGOV's Price Go Down?

Not in the way price decay hurts many high-yield income funds. $SGOV's share price follows a tight saw-tooth pattern: it creeps up a few cents each day as interest accrues, then drops by roughly the dividend amount on the ex-date. Over the past 52 weeks it traded between $100.27 and $100.73. Its one-year total return of 3.79% includes those distributions.

⚠️ Don't try to "capture" the SGOV dividend. Buying the day before the ex-date and selling right after usually nets you nothing, because the price falls by about the amount of the dividend on the ex-date. And for most holders, the dividend is taxed as ordinary income.

How SGOV Dividends Are Taxed

$SGOV's distributions come from Treasury bill interest, so they are generally taxed as ordinary income at the federal level. They are not qualified dividends. The good news for many investors is that interest from U.S. Treasury obligations is often exempt from state and local income tax. How much of that exemption flows through an ETF depends on your state's rules and on the share of income iShares reports as coming from Treasuries each year.

If you live in a high-tax state, that state exemption can make $SGOV's after-tax yield more competitive with a bank account or money market fund than the headline numbers suggest. Always check iShares' annual tax supplement and talk to a tax professional before relying on it.

SGOV vs BIL vs USFR vs TBIL vs CSHI vs WEEK

$SGOV is the largest fund in its category, but it is not the only way to earn T-bill income. Here is how it stacks up against the other popular cash-like ETFs as of the October 2, 2026 close.

SGOV Dividend FAQ

Does SGOV pay monthly dividends?

Yes. $SGOV pays every month, usually going ex-dividend on the first business day and paying three to five business days later. December has two payments and January has none, so you still get 12 payments a year.

How much does SGOV pay per month?

$SGOV paid $0.30055 per share for October 2026. Over the last 12 months it averaged about $0.31 per share per month. At a $100.44 share price, that is roughly $30 a month for every $10,000 invested, before taxes.

When is SGOV's next ex-dividend date?

The next ex-dividend date is expected to be Monday, November 2, 2026, with payment around November 5. You need to own shares before the ex-date to receive that payment.

How often does SGOV pay dividends?

Twelve times a year. $SGOV skips a January ex-date because it makes two payments in December.

What is SGOV's dividend yield?

About 3.65% based on the $3.67 paid over the last 12 months and the October 2, 2026 price of $100.44. The yield moves with short-term Treasury rates.

Is SGOV's dividend taxed as ordinary income?

Generally yes at the federal level, since the income comes from T-bill interest rather than qualified dividends. Treasury interest is often exempt from state and local income tax, but the rules vary by state. Check iShares' tax information and a tax professional.

Why is SGOV paying less than last year?

Because short-term rates were lower. $SGOV paid $3.67 per share over the last 12 months versus $4.30 in the prior 12 months, a drop of about 14.7%. Monthly payouts have been steady near $0.30 since spring 2026.

Does SGOV's share price go down?

Only by small amounts on each ex-date. Its price rises slightly through the month as interest accrues, then drops by about the dividend amount on the ex-date. The 52-week range was $100.27 to $100.73.
